About

Dedicated to Quality
Roofing Since 1964

Roofing Contractors Association of Nova Scotia (RCANS) is the voice of the industrial, commercial, and institutional roofing industry in our province. Our mission is simple: to promote professional workmanship, safety, and integrity in every project our members undertake.

Our History & Heritage

A Legacy of Professionalism

The story of RCANS began approximately sixty years ago in Halifax. A small group of dedicated roofing contractors recognized the need for an association that could define and promote high-quality commercial roofing workmanship.

Under the leadership of the late Douglas Fraser, operator of Tasco Roofing, these founders met monthly to establish the bylaws and membership criteria that still guide us today.

"We continue to operate out of the Construction Association of Nova Scotia building in Halifax, serving as a hub for industry excellence."

Core Values

What We Stand For

Professional Workmanship

We believe that a roof is only as good as the hands that install it. By affiliating with the CRCA, we ensure our members stay at the forefront of technical advancements and national standards.

Safety Without Compromise

Safety is our top priority. We work in lockstep with the Department of Labour and the Nova Scotia Construction Safety Association (NSCSA). Our members adhere to strict provincial fall arrest regulations.

Education & Training

The future of our industry depends on skilled labor. RCANS actively promotes apprenticeship training and professional development to ensure Nova Scotia has a steady supply of Red Seal certified roofers.

Leadership

Board of Directors & Officers

RCANS is led by a dedicated board of industry professionals who volunteer their time to advance the roofing trade in Nova Scotia.
